    The human situation appears to be a struggle between how people actually live their lives (existence) and how they ideally should live (essence). This will be explored through a short film using a metaphorical character who is meant to represent everyone. The film will use a mix of muted and overexposed color scenes along with black and white to show the juxtaposition between existence and essence, depicting the same daily routines but with the character acting happy in one and unhappy in another to illustrate the difference. Sound will also be distorted between laughter and crying to subvert audience expectations.

    The Human Situation

    The human situation appears to be a struggle between what is (existence) and what ought (essence) to be.

    Summary Of Idea
    A person goes through the motions of life at one stage, i.e: Getting up and dressed for work, at the office, driving etc. The person doesnt look or sound happy. The scene will be shown again whilst the character looks and acts happy.

    Character
    The character has no backstory as they are a metaphor for everyone. The character acts directly to the camera.

    Text
    May or may not add various philosophical life quotes as this wont add any particular addition to the visual or create a scope of understanding. It will feel like a strand of its own.

    Visuals
    Therell be a mix between black and white or just muted colour scenes and overexposed colour scenes to show the juxtaposition and representation of existence and essence.

    Sound
    Laughter and crying or screaming. Distorted so that one sound happy and the other sound sad, distorting audience expectations.
