Innateness Hypothesis
The connection between the innateness hypothesis and the idea of universal grammar.
The innateness hypothesis is an idea produced by scholars after studying human development and the sources of language. They looked at how human language is created. The development of babies for instance, the decent of the larynx, the development of the brain, posture, walking and talking. This set of almost automatic developments led the scholars to believe in something more powerful than small physical adaptions to our species over time. But to the belief that humans are born with a special ability for language. A language gene that no other creature has. This innateness hypothesis, is linked to the theory accredited to Noam Chomsky, of universal grammar. The theory suggests that human ability to learn grammar is hard wired or pre programmed much in the way a computer works.
