Comparative of Superiority (Er/ More + ... + than) We use this structure to compare 2 people, 2 objects, 2 places, etc. In this comparison, we want to say that something is superior to another thing. One syllable words: Example: big, tall, thin, young, new, cheap. Structure: ADJECTIVE + ER + (THAN) Example: Susan is thinner than Tina. (THIN - double last letter) This bedroom is small. My bedroom is larger. Two syllable words - end in Y: Example: pretty, dirty, easy, early, lucky. Structure: ADJECTIVE - Y + IER + (THAN) Example: EARLY - Y = EARL + IER Tomorrow, I need to wake up earlier than usual.
