Seattle Saints Celebrate Guru Puja Diwas

Sant Nirankari Mission, Seattle branch celebrated Guru Puja Divas on February 23, marking the birthday of His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji. The countless activities planned by devotees commenced early morning on Saturday. Rev. Dev Raj Vijh Ji from California also blessed the congregation by taking part in the activities. Saints from the ages of 6 to 75 participated in the Guru Puja Greenway Plant Nursery Project at Lake Sammamish State Park. The Greenway Plant Nursery is home to nearly 15,000 native trees and shrubs. The Greenway is critical to connecting 1.5 million acres and is an important part of keeping our natural areas healthy and green. With the blessings of Nirankar, the Seattle volunteers were able to plant over 950 trees. The local media also highlighted the event, (http://www.issaquahreporter.com/news/192608311.html). Event organizers also thanked the Sant Nirankari Mission for their efforts and said, It is great to see that Sant Nirankari Mission is creating good citizens of the world.

The celebration continued later in the afternoon in the form of a Sewa Dal rally followed by a congregation. The congregation praised the importance of a Satguru and the application of his teachings in our lives. The Seattle congregation also presented two skits depicting the importance of Satguru and the message of unity in diversity. A documentary presentation on the life of Baba Hardev Singh Ji also showcased his immense dedication to the Mission, the message of truth, love, and welfare of humanity. The evening concluded with a telecast of Baba Jis message that may life always be committed to the cause of welfare and enlightenment of humanity.

On Sunday February 24, 2013, devotees of all ages expressed their immense love to Satguru and best wishes in the form of poems (Kavi Darbar). Devotees also sang devotional songs and shared their love for Satguru to mark the auspicious occasion. Rev. Dev Raj Ji from California presided over the congregation and emphasized the importance of God-Knowledge in life. He gave various examples of circumstances that can arise in life but a devotees faith must remain in bliss with Nirankar Almighty. He also commended the enthusiastic spirit of the Seattle congregation and prayed to Nirankar Almighty that they may continue on the path of devotion and selfless service. -Rajvir Raheja
