Purpose: to try to achieve the fastest speed and/or best

appearance. Terms: fluid, mass, aerodynamics, drag, lift, rear suction, down force, frontal area Be aware of: frontal pressure, rear suction, lift/down force balance, drag coefficient, frontal area Flat back=suction force=slower car Flat front= frontal pressure=slower car F=ma, less mass results in greater acceleration Shield as much air from underneath car as possible to prevent lift force

We looked into three separate designs and weighed the pros and cons of each design A. The first option was a pointed front with cut out sides, the wheels on the outside of the car and a curved back
1)

Why? We liked this design because it was relatively easy to create and it was aero dynamic

B. The second option included a wide front with a

narrow mid section and a thick back

1)

Why? We thought the wide body of the car would push air away from the body making it more wind resistant

C. The third was the same as the second but we were

going to experiment with moving the wheels up

C.

Why? The closer the wheels were to the ground, the less room there was for air to get underneath the car and create a lift force.

Project Falcon:

Front to back curve

didnt turn out perfectly, dipped slightly in middle The first front axel hole we drilled was crooked so we had to drill a new one We decided against using the provided black tubing because it slowed down the spin of our wheels
