BOOK REVIEWS

Handbook of Teratology, vol. 4. Research Procedures and Data Analysis. Edited by J. G. WILSON and F. C. FRASER. New York: Plenum Press, 1978. Pp 458. Volume 4 is the last in the series of the Handbook of Teratology edited by J. G. Wilson and F. C. Fraser. This volume, entitled Research Procedures and Data Analysis, contains a spectrum of methodological approaches to teratology written by experts in each of the various fields. They discuss problems, applications, the advantages, and disadvantages in the various approaches. This volume will not be of interest to those people who want techniques spelled out in detail for performance, but it is, rather, a discussion of the approaches. The volume also contains an excellent chapter on behavioral teratology, which is explained in detail and includes a description of some of the behavioral tests. In short, this book is an excellent review of a variety of different research approaches that have been used in teratology and should be of interest to many.
