A Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is a self-organized

wireless network composed of a large number of sensor nodes that interact with the physical world. Various low-power and cost-effective sensor platforms have been developed based upon recent advances in wireless communication and micro system technologies. The increasing study of WSNs [4, 20, 21] aims to enable computers to better serve people by automatically monitoring and interacting with physical environments.

An

automatic alarm device for traffic accidents is introduced in this paper. It can automatically detect a traffic accident, search for the spot and then send the basic information to first aid centre within two seconds covering geographical coordinates, the time and circumstances in which a traffic accident takes place. By means of satellite navigation system, first aid rescuers can accurately locate the place with maximum error controlled by 10 meters, so that they can save the injured people as soon as possible

In SASA, stationary sensor nodes are deployed on the

walls and ceiling of tunnels to form a mesh network. SASA, which aims to address the challenges and provide a feasible framework for underground monitoring in coalmines. The design objectives of SASA include: 1) the ability to rapidly detect the collapse area and report to the sink node. 2) the ability to maintain the system integrity when the sensor network structure is altered.

The advantage of conventional systems is that they are

relatively simple for small to intermediate size buildings. Servicing does not require a large amount of specialized training.

A disadvantage is that for large buildings, they can be

expensive to install because of the extensive amounts of wire that are necessary to accurately monitor initiating devices.

In this paper, we discuss SASA, a Structure-Aware

Self- Adaptive wireless sensor network system, for underground monitoring in coal mines. SASA is able to rapidly detect structural variations caused by underground collapses. The collapse holes can be located and outlined, and the detection accuracy is bounded. We also provide a set of mechanisms to discover the relocated sensor nodes in the hole region. We deployed a prototype in the coal mine to test system validity.
