Mathematics Unit of Inquiry

Grade 4 Overview Sunday 20/03/2013 Thursday 24/03/ 2013. *** Concert Practices *** We will be practicing some of our songs this week for the concert. Ask your child if they know the songs they need to sing. Maybe even have a little concert in your home; have your child perform the songs for family members. Report Writing each student has an inventor that they need to research and gather information on. This week we will work on using this information to write a report on this inventor. Talk to your child about their inventor and ask them questions about them. We are continuing our new unit on Fractions and investigating probability.
Central idea: Inventors utilize energy in the development of technologies that meet the needs of a society. Lines of inquiry: The needs of a society Inventors that have impacted society How inventors utilize resources to meet a societies needs Classes this week will be beginning to construct their Rube Goldberg machines. Students are encouraged to bring in items from home that they can use to make theirs.
