Maypole club
By Athena Tzallas
SPRING
BY DOMINIC BUTCHER
At the end of January Miss Youngs, Mrs Brown and Mrs Burman started running a maypole club for all the children in KS2 on a Wednesday. The purpose of the club was to let children learn maypole dances to perform to their parents in May and also at the Spring Fair. Many children enjoy it and have a lot of fun each week. .I went along one week and interviewed EllaMarie Rudd in Year 5. She said that she loved going to Maypole club and she is enjoying making new friends. She also explained that she liked doing the
spider web dance because she loves the pattern on the maypole at the end. Laura Million, also in Year 5, said she liked going to the club because she loves doing maypole as in Year five they do not do this type of dance. I think maypole is an enjoyable club and if any body else is interested in going to the club letters are available from the office.
Summer is on the way but theres spring first. Pretty daises blossom in the sun. Really fine weather that makes the plants develop. Interesting creatures flourish in the warmth. New growth sprouts from the ground. Great and small enjoy the longer days.

Jazz Dancing
By Athena Tzallas and Laura Million
By Alexander Dunne
Chess club is a great place to practise your chess and improve your strategies by playing against other people. Best for people who know how to play chess but anyone is welcome. There are tournaments to win big prizes. It is on at Thursday after school in the library and ends at 4.10pm. And for more information ask Mrs Thackery.
Many people across the school in year 5 and 6 do jazz after school and in school on Friday afternoon. It takes place in the performing arts room where people get to do drama and dance. The lesson in school hours starts at 1:10pm until 2:10pm for the year 5s but for the year 6s it starts at 2:10pm until 3:10pm. Everybody enjoys it very much and always have a great time.

Miss Clayton and Miss Barnes (Reception Teachers): At break the children go on it class by class, otherwise they go on it all together and they sometimes use it for PE. They said they think it will build up the childrens balancing and climbing skills! Miss Clayton and Miss Barnes said they think the best equipment for the children is all of it. Thank you to Miss Barnes and Miss Clayton for their time.

On 14th February Year 4 went to the Science Museum in London for a school trip. It was brilliant. The launchpad A place where you could experiment on your own was very good. You could experiment with bubbles, using the flow of water for electricity & how holograms are made! Really good physical activity William Crisp. Excellent and fascinating Alexander Dunne. After we left the launchpad we went and had lunch. It was very tasty! Comment: I liked it because there was every part of science there.

Ocean Commotion
By Kanza Elmrabti and Hannah Hens
Ocean Commotion is all about a Hammer Head Shark who falls in love with a dolphin. When he first meets her it is out in the ocean and they both sing a love song to show how much they love each other. Then the dolphin goes to play with people on the shore and the porpoises and other sea creatures warn the dolphin to look out for nets and hooks in case she gets caught. When the bottle nosed dolphin goes to play with the humans she doesnt look where she is going and gets caught. The people who were given the bottlenose dolphin named her Dolly, and they taught her how to play their games and then put her on a show. The other sea animals said that Dolly was nearly a human. Year 3 produced this show earlier this term. They all dressed up as fish and other sea creatures and sang lots of songs and danced in this sparkling performance.
SENSATIONAL SLAMMER
By Harriet Morris A few days ago Year Six were invited to London to appear on the CBBC programme The Slammer, (a prison for entertainers.) While we were there we watched 4 acts: The Amazing Christopher, a puppeteer that danced with puppets the size of humans. Veloviski, two Western people who used whips to do anything they wanted. Grim Baldy and the Bear, a circus master and a dancing bear (who was not as he seemed!) Roller Skaters, an amazing woman who hung on to a man with one hand while being swung around over his head. According to everyone who went, it was better than watching the show on the television. If you do watch it, hope you like it and recognise some familiar faces from Year 6. Thank you to all of the staff who gave up their time to take us.

SPORT RELIEF BY Kanza Elmrabti During Sport Relief week in March KS2 raised money for sport relief. On Friday the 14th we were encouraged to come dressed in sports related clothes. We made a donation for this and also gave money for completing a mile in our games lessons during the week. The money is now going to be sent to poor places such as Africa, to be used for medicines, clean water and other projects. Thank you for supporting this appeal. Buckingham Primary School raised 470.
