Lesson Plan 3/26/13
Mini Lesson
Objective: Student will be able to recognize words where she will have to drop the final e when adding an ending. I will have a chart with the various endings (I Do) I know that when I want to add a suffix/ending to a word that ends in an e, I have to drop that e before adding the ending. Some of these endings include es, -ed, -ing, -ness and able. I want you to listen to me think about how I would change these words to add an ending and make a new word. Have a chart with examples and nonexamples of final e words Think aloud: Thought process of whether the word has a final e, what you want the new word to be, and whether or not you have to drop a letter to make that new word. (We Do)- Would you have to drop the final letter to make a new ending? Have a list of words and do a turn and talk You Do- Assessment: Have a new list of words and one at a time give me a thumbs up or down.. Would you drop a letter in this word to add one of the endings on my chart?
