February 20, 2007

Procedure Performed: Laparoscopically assisted ileocolic resection. Pathology: The gross and histologic findings are consistent with Crohns disease. Present Condition: Ms. Anderson had an abscess in her right lower quadrant. She was discharged home on February 5, 2007, and did well until yesterday. She developed abdominal pain predominantly in the right lower quadrant. Her bowel pattern has varied from 1 to 5 bowel movements daily. Overall, she was feeling well until yesterday when she developed pain. She was seen by Dr. Rosen who added antibiotics to her regimen. She takes 6-MP, Asacol, and Flagyl. It appears that her pain subsided. When she was in the hospital she had her menstrual period. It is exactly two weeks after that she develops pain in the right lower quadrant. Abdomen: Her abdomen is soft, non-distended. She has localized tenderness down in the right side over the iliac crest. Assessment & Plan: Ms. Anderson developed pain in the right lower quadrant. She is in mid-cycle right now and perhaps this could be a ruptured ovarian cyst. Otherwise, it might be related to her surgery. I would like to obtain a CT scan of abdomen to see what is causing this pain. We will be in contact with her after the CT scan is done.
