Catcher in the Rye

Boarding School- Holden goes to a boarding school called Pency Prep in Pennsylvania. Holden is
kicked out of Pency Prep for flunking four out of five subjects. Holdens history teacher, Mr. Spencer asks him to stop by his house before he leaves Pency. Holdens roommate is Stradlater, a popular football player at Pency. Robert Ackley lives in the dorm next to Holden, and is very disgusting and always walks in on Holden when Holdens in the shower.

Expulsion- Holden is expelled from Pency Prep for failing four of his classes. Hunting Cap- Holden buys a red hunting cap, with a long red peak, he sees in New York the morning
he loses the fencing foils. Holden sees it a sports store window after getting off the train.

Smoking- Holden is a smoker and he smokes in the dorm even if its not allowed, just to annoy
Stradlater. When on the train Holden meets Ed Bankys mom and offers her a smoke.

Train- Holden looses the foils on a train on his way to a game and goes to NY on a train. Boy/Girl Relationships- Stradlater goes out Jean, a girl Holden likes and has know since he was little. Family- Holden meets Ed Banks mom on the train and Holden has two siblings a brother, D.B., and a
sister, Phoebe.

Alcohol-Holden tries to get a drink when he goes to this club in NY Fear- Holden acts like he doesnt fear anything or anyone. Freedom- Holden is free from Pency Prep
