    RE: REQUEST TO RENEW OLD PEOPLE ASSISTANCE

    Dear Marjo,

    We, Daughters of Charity in Danka, Dembidollo, Ethiopia would like to request if we could
    renew the support we are giving to the elderly people ofDanka and Samerro Village for 2009
    through OUD IN AFRIKA. For the past year (2008) we have helped 110 old people ofwhich,
    60 elderly from Danka and 50 from Samerro. This was a big help to the elderly people who
    because of your support have experienced security knowing that they will be supported of
    their food and other basic needs if necessary. Thank you for making a difference in their
    lives.

    We would appreciate it very much if we could continue the 'standard support' which would
    consists of monthly food allowance of 25.00 birr per month and 100.00 birr Christmas gift
    per elderly person. Therefore, 110 x 25.00 birr per month x 12 = 33,000.00 Birr; Christmas
    gift of 100.00 birr x 110 = 11,000.00 birr would give a grand total of 44,000.00 Birr. We
    would like to ask the same consideration as of last year if this could be rounded off to
    50,000.00 birr for any unforeseen expenditures of which, 6,000.00 would be used for this.
    Since we have a remaining amount of 13,725.16 Birr from 2008, it is but right to deduct this
    from the 50,000.00 birr being asked for. Therefore, if this request is approved, I understand
    that we will be receiving 36,274.84 Birr for year 2009.

    Grand total wouJd come to 36,274.84 Birr which wouJd equate to €2,501.71 based on the
    present exchange rate of 14.50 Birr per Euro.

    Thank you for your kind consideration in helping the poor elderly people in our area of
    Danka and Samerro. God bless you and your loved ones.
