an anniversary celebration
Blackheath Halls Music Appreciation Monday mornings with Matthew Taylor
2006 marks the 150th anniversary of Robert Schumanns death. For many years only his Piano Concerto, solo piano music and songs have stood at the forefront of German Romanticism, but his achievements in other fields, as a writer of concertos, choral works, symphonies and chamber music are at last becoming more widely acknowledged. This course will explore the whole range of his music. introducing live performances also, focusing on well known works in addition to the lesser known, and emphasising how Schumanns world was reflected in his music.
