Workshop Developing documentaries at schools on 5-7 April 2013 in Athens, Greece

Dates: 5-7 April 2013, Location: Athens, Greece Educational Radiotelevision (EduTV) is organising the MEDEAnet workshop Developing documentaries at schools on the 5 to 7 of April 2013 in Athens. The workshop is dedicated to teachers of primary and secondary education that already have a prior experience in video producing. This workshop supports teachers to: focus on methodologies related to documentary, indicate how documentary can be a multimodal, strong, informative and expressive medium, explore how various tools and resources can be used to enhance creativity in schools refine their shooting and editing techniques, approach creative techniques, focus on methodologies and educational content that could make teaching exciting and attractive to young people, learn and exchange the experience of creating videos with European teachers

Participants should have basic knowledge in ICT, Web 2.0 tools, video production. At the end of the workshop, the participants will receive a diploma and a leaflet containing the guidelines to create documentaries in their schools.

Speakers
Maria Leonida, Film director and Media Educator. Her documentaries, have been screened in Film Festivals and TV channels around Europe. Since 2002 she works as a Media Educator starting with the nationwide Melina Project- Arts in Education and the Chicam project at the Institute of Education, London. Currently she designs media workshops for various programs in and outside schools both for children and adult educators. Her interests focus on ways of understanding the media as well as processes of interdisciplinary learning. European projects include: The Videomuseums, CH.I.C.A.M, Stranger Festival, ECOWOMEN, North Aegean Narratives, University of Frankfurt, the JOBAct project in Germany. Maria trained in filmmaking in London and Denmark. She holds a BA in History and an MA in Art History and is currently a PHD candidate at the U of Athens, researching early childhood media issues.
