Aims (What are your aims for this lesson?) Select from the following categories:Grammatical Structure: Possibly refresh the 3 tenses Present simple, present perfect and past simple as I will be revising the usage of
them with the students. This will only be done if I see that the structure does need refreshing. If not then I will not teach this. Function: Revise usage of 3 tenses Present simple, present perfect and past simple and their usage in interviews & work. Vocabulary: Pre-teach vocabulary - Interview. Publish Skills Listening. Students to listen to tape 7.1 and then to gap fill and then to listen to tape 7.2. Phonology

Objectives

Anticipated problems (what are you or the students going to have problems with?) and solutions (how are you going to solve the problems?)

Be familiar with an interview Have a good grasp of the tense system by applying it to a work interview related audio (listening). Be able to appreciate the usage of the 3 tenses that will be discussed. Become familiar with Vocabulary that they did know before.

Present perfect is not used in other language which can confuse students in using it. They might use past or present tense instead. Solution As students are of intermediate level, I will observe student usage of present perfect and if I see they are making mistakes then I will correct it. Also, as I will be discussing usage of present perfect tense.

To discuss usage of the 3 tenses in the 3 sentences.

Personal aims

(which areas of your teaching will you be working on?)

I aim to successfully explain the usage of the tenses. This is slightly difficult for me as the tenses can have many usages so I will have to concentrate on the usage that is being used. There are some student who are not that proactively participating. I will probe to get them involved.
