UP holds the top job creator of 2012 in India

A brief view by Arpan Ghosh A recent study by Assocham says that the twin cities of India, Noida and Greater Noida accounted 87% of the total jobs generated among the top cities of Uttar Pradesh which created 65,300 jobs between January and December 2012. The survey was done among the top six cities of UP namely Allahabad, Agra, Aligarh, Kanpur, Lucknow, Noida and Greater Noida. Around 31,900 jobs are created in the first half and 33,400 jobs by the end of December last year. Among the total jobs that were created by the end of 2012, the twin cities alone hold the maximum number of employment, over 56,800 which indicates almost 87% of the total amount. Then comes Lucknow over 4,700 (7%), Kanpur over 1,600 (2.5%), Agra over 1,300 (2%), Allahabad over 1,100 (1.5%) and Aligarh which has created over 550 jobs sharing less than 1% of the total. From the national view, where a total number of 5.3 lakh jobs are created during 2012; from which 2.8 lakh in the first half and 2.4 lakh in the rest of the half comes. Delhi and NCR topped as over 1.1 lakh jobs were created between January and December 2012, followed by Mumbai over 77,000 jobs, Bengaluru alone created 75,000 jobs, Chennai over 44,000 jobs and least number of jobs created by Kolkata just over 25,000 among the top five metro cities of India during this time period.
