Kellie Howering 3/22/13 Radio Actuality- School Lunches Professor Mirrer Intro: In the past year, school lunches

have changed drastically. The Obama Administration has limited the amount sodium and calories in food. Schools now how to offer students more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Extra pounds put children at a greater risk of developing type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. Susan West, a middle school cafeteria worker, doesnt agree with the new food guidelines. Cue in: Im not for the government telling kids and the people what to eat Cue out: what good is one meal a day going to do. On the other hand, Rachel Howering thinks the changes are for the better Cue in: I think that bringing in more whole wheat stuff, like whole wheat wraps and whole wheat breads for the sandwiches and for the hamburgers and hotdogs, is really good because whole wheat is better for you than white bread. Cue out: so I think by introducing that into the school system is a really good thing. Outro: The new meal standards are intended to improve the health of nearly 32 million children who eat lunch at school every day.
