Celebrated

in Equator and in the rest of Latin America as a result of the combination between indigenous beliefs and Catholic religion. The Day of the Dead takes place on November 2 around the continent. In Equator it starts on November 2 and ends on November 3. In this holiday people feels more closer with the ones who are no longer with us.

People

go to the cemetery carrying floral offerings and traditional food. People eat next to the graves of their beloved relatives. People leave a portion of food for their relative. People eat colada morada and guaguas de pan. People pray for the soul of their beloved relatives

Also

with less attachment in Ecuador people use dark clothes on the Day of the Dead, mainly black and purple as a sign of pain.

The

food of this holiday are Colada Morada and Guaguas de pan. Colada Morada is a purple drink made with corn flour, blueberries, blackberries, cinnamon, and pineapple, among other ingredients that are cooked together. Guaguas de pan are sweet bread in shape of kids. And Colada Morada is served hot or cold with the sweet bread (Guaguas de pan)
