Brazil the greatest football nation in the world.

It has won the World Cup four times- more than any nation. Brazil has also produced the greatest footballer ever: Pele. He scored more than 1000 goals and became rich and famous. You cannot escape football in Brazil. There are football matches on every street and beach. On television, the results of football matches precede the main news programmes. There are six television channels in Rio de Janeiro alone . On Sundays, each channel shows a different football match. Brazil is not the richest country in the world but it spends huge sums of money on football. For example, it cost millions of dollars to prepare for the 1978 World Cup. The problems with walking to school is that you have to breathe, and in many cities the air is not clean. In some cities the pollution caused by cars is so dangerous that some people wear masks in the street. There are very few cities with no cars. Venice is one of these and people get around on foot or boat, by water buses or water taxis. It is more expensive to go by gondola and not very fast, but much more romantic! In many places public transport also gets very crowded in rush hours. In Tokyo there are special workers to push people into the underground trains . But if you go by underground* you can avoid traffic jams and public transport causes less pollution. Perhaps the best way of getting around is by getting on your bike. It can be more dangerous because of the risks of accidents, but a lot of cities have special bicycle lanes. Going by bike does not cause any pollution and it is good exercise for you!
