Grovers Past Quest

By Timmy Brewer I wanted to protest. None of what happened was Grovers fault. I also felt really, really guilty. If I hadnt given Grover the slip at the bus station, he might not have got in trouble. Hell get a second chance, wont he? Chiron winced. Im afraid that was his second chance Percy. The council was not anxious to give him another, either, after what happened the first time, five years ago on Grovers first quest. Please tell me what happened? Percy asked. Fine but you cant tell anyone, understand, whispered Chiron Yes I promise. Said Percy Ok. Chiron muttered. It was just another day at the New York Boarding School and Grover was sent to help Sam the son of Ares. He was a lonely boy and Grover was his only friend. He wasnt the smartest of the kids at his school but he wasnt dumb either but that didnt stop the other kids bullying him and as Grover spoke to him, he jumped up and ran away. Grover found Sam in the park and just as he was about to talk to him there was a loud cracking noise followed by some deep breathing and growling. He thought that there was a wild dog in the park looking for food but was frozen in his tracks when out of the bushes jumped the biggest, ugliest and scariest dog-like creature. Grover screamed Hellhound and grabbed Sams hand and tried to run but the creature was too fast and ran away with Sam in its mouth. Grover was horrified that something would happen to Sam and ran to rescue him knowing exactly where to go because the hellhounds were sent from the Underworld. So he headed west to the forbidden area and once at the entrance to the Underworld, he jumped through a black hole in the ground. He saw hellhounds and monsters guarding a huge temple in the middle and managed to sneak past all of them and make it to the back of the temple without being seen. He squeezed through a hole and dropped down onto the floor and saw Sam in a cage. Grover turned to make his way over to Sam and saw something terrifying in front of him but before he had time to think, Grover was flying through the air. Luckily for him, the monster had hit him closer to Sams cage and he ran to it and tried to wake Sam up. At first he didnt move and Grover started to panic but then he heard his friends voice yelling for him to get out of the way. Grover looked around and saw this enormous half man, half bull like creature charging at them both. As he jumped he saw Sam jump out of the cage and run for the stairs. The Minotaur was blowing steam out of his nose

and his hoof-like feet were stomping, but not towards Grover. It had realized that Sam was trying to escape and turned its attention to stopping him at all cost and slid itself across the room hitting one of the pillars. Suddenly the temple started to collapse! Grover ran to try and get to Sam to save him but the Minotaur turned its rage toward him and charged again. It again hit a pillar and the rest of the temple collapsed in front of him, destroying everything and giving Grover no chance to save his best friend. After spending some time searching the rubble to try and find any chance of Sam surviving Grover decided to head back to Camp Half Blood and explain that he had failed his task to Chiron and to mourn the loss of his friend.
