LOW COST,LOW POWER,INTELLIGENT BRAKE TEMPERATURE SENSOR SYSTEM FOR AUTOMOTIVE APPLICATIONS.

OBJECTIVE

To design an integrated intelligent brake temperature sensor system. Implemented in one silicon chip to maximize power and minimize system cost.

INTRODUCTION

Now-a-days cars with different features are produced to satisfy consumer needs in near future. Safety of them is of major importance

Need to modify current braking system.

Factors

determining brake wear:

Material selection Temperature.

Correct monitoring of brake system reduces temperature failure.

Measurement

of braking temperature:

Two ways: 1)Infrared(IR)cameras 2)Thermocouple based thermometers

Thermocouples are chosen for design.

ARCHITECTURE OF THE SYSTEM

Brake

temperature sensor system consists:

(1)One central unit(Electrical Control Unit)

(2)Several separate temperature sensor unit.

IC DESIGN

Components used in sensor unit design can be easily implemented on silicon chip. Sensor needs no external connection Microcontroller can be A/D converter. A/D processing function can be integrated on CMOS chip.

CONCLUSION
A low cost, low power, intelligent brake temperature sensor system was designed. System consists of: 1)Several standalone brake shoe temperature sensors based on integrated thermocouples . 2)Microcontroller based Electrical Control Unit for data acquisition and display.

FUTUREWORK

To design a complete IC layout for described intelligent sensor.
