Palomo Contribution to a longer piece Maximiser Page 31 Ex 6 The older people in Spain are, in general terms, not very protected. So the attitudes to them, in many cases, are not very positive. From the government, older people receive less every time, they are one of the collectives which first suffer from the economical crisis. And that has a direct impact in the attitudes of the rest of population towards them. For a huge amount of people, they represent a duty in both economical and psychological aspects. But there is another view to expose, nowadays is quite common to see the older people taking care of the youngest, since women have started to work out of home, they are who look after the children, they pick them up from school, and they are who prepare their meals. Due to the economical crisis, a lot of people have been fired from their jobs and most of them have lost their houses, those who are lucky to have older people living in other house, have had the opportunity to go to live with them, so the older people have had to accept their sons and daughters, and sometimes the whole family in their houses. So, I would say that despite the older people have been saw as a duty in some epoch, nowadays they are a big support to their younger.
