Experience

6/2006 - 2/2013

United Airlines

San Francisco, CA

Airline Transport Pilot After graduating from the University of Chicago, I applied for a position at United Airlines. After reviewing my past experience, education, and success, United Airlines decided to hire me on as a full time captain. This was especially flattering, as I was not required to occupy the first officer position as a prerequisite. I loved flying for United Airlines due to the fact that I had the same ideals regarding customer satisfaction as they strived to achieve. Education 9/2000 - 5/2006 University of Chicago Chicago, IL Doctorate I have attended the University of Chicago and received a doctorate in aerodynamic sciences. I greatly enjoyed and appreciated my time at this prestigious university, and it has propelled me to the top of my profession. 6/1997 - Present Active Aviators Association Member Since I began my aviation endeavors as a sophomore in high school, I have maintained an active membership in the AAA. This association provides active pilots of all ranks with the necessary information to remain successful in the commercial airline field. I continually attend AAA meetings in order to both learn and share my experiences with fellow pilots. This association has most certainly contributed to my career as I remain at the top of my profession. Geographer As an amateur geographer, my sense of direction and awareness are improved in the cockpit. I now feel safer in situations such as diversions. Awards/Honors 11/2010 National Aeronautic Association This award symbolizes my valiant actions in a time of grave danger. After departing San Francisco International Airport, two of the four engines of my Boeing 747-400 failed, and I was forced to perform an emergency landing. The first officer and I were able to bring 458 passengers to safety, just five minutes after the plane had taken off. This award remains one of my most coveted possessions, and proudest accomplishments.
