DYSLEXIA: WHAT IS IT, REALLY?

Presenter: G. Emerson Dickman, J.D.
Emerson is Past President of the International Dyslexia Association and a member of the National Joint Committee on Learning Disabilities. He will share personal reflections and scientific fact, including research-based and anecdotal information regarding understanding, remediating, accommodating, and compensating for deficits while promoting the unique strengths of the individual with dyslexia. This program will include the following: Characteristics of dyslexia and related disorders Information on assessment and diagnosis of dyslexia Information on effective strategies for teaching students with dyslexia Discussion of the current advocacy efforts of NJ parents to increase opportunities for students with dyslexia in NJ public schools
