ARE YOU SEPARATING OR RETIRING SOON?

WANT TO KNOW WHAT VA AND STATE OF TEXAS BENEFITS ARE OUT THERE FOR YOU?
The Tarrant County Veteran Service Office can help. They assist separating and retiring military members with filing for VA and State of Texas benefits, FREE OF CHARGE. They are a county organization created by the governor to provide these services, FREE OF CHARGE, to veterans and their survivors. They are not part of the VA, which means they are an advocate for veterans and work for veterans. They can assist you with filing your disability compensation claim by suggesting what medical conditions to submit claims for, completing the necessary forms to submit, assisting with obtaining other documents that are needed, all to ensure you have the most complete claim possible to give you the best chance of getting your claim approved. They don't just assist with filing your claim and leave you alone like some claims organizations do. They are with you throughout the whole claims process, from the beginning to the end and remain available to give assistance after that. You will always be able to contact a counselor by phone at their office. Their counselors are disabled veterans and have gone through the VA disability process themselves. They also receive extensive training twice a year to keep abreast of the ever-changing VA benefits, laws, and regulations. They are well versed in the new Fully Developed Claim (FDC) VA benefit program that expedites the processing of claims submitted to the VA. A representative from their office is available at the Fleet and Family Support Center, NAS JRB, every Thursday from 10 to 3 to provide these services, free of charge. If you would like to see their representative, call the Fleet and Family Support Center at (817) 782-5287 to schedule an appointment. All appointments are for 1 hour. You can also call their office to make an appointment to see one of their counselors to file a disability compensation claim or to just get information on VA and State of Texas benefits. For more information, contact their office at (817) 531-5645 or view their website at www.tarrantcounty.com/eveterans. Questions can also be directed to their director, Chester Slaughter, at clslaughter@tarrantcounty.com.
