Opening Statement
Have children help set out the sponges, paint and paper. Have them assist pouring the paint into bowls

What will children do? Earlier children will dip sponges in paint and rub it on the paper Middle children will dip sponges in paint and make shapes with the paint Later Children will dip the sponge in the paint and then dab their finger in it and then paint with their finger

warning and transition to next part of routine Write childrens names and symbols on their paintings. Put the paintings in the drying rack. Encourage the children to help w ipe off the table. Help the children clean themselves and make comments about how the paint is turning the water different colors.
