Introduce the FITT Principle. Go over the components of developing a basic fitness plan. Project a large chart on the document camera or create a poster prior to class that you and the students can fill out. Ask students why this might be a successful strategy, allow a few minutes to discuss at their tables. Discuss warm-up, cools down. Ask students which part of a workout is which. For example: Warm-ups are at the beginning of a workout, and cool down is at the end. More strategies at Article: http://www.brianmac.co.uk/warmup.htm Next, discuss the FITT Principle in depth. Go over each box and provide example of each. F-Frequency: how often are you going to workout? I-Intensity: how hard you workout? T-Time: how long is that particular workout is going to be? T-Type: what type of exercise are you going to do? 3. We Do: (5-10 min) Either on a digital file or copies, allow for the students to begin filling out a personal FITT plan graphic organizer. One that reflects what they do on a weekly basis or what they would like to do. Go over the F-Frequency and decide how often the workout will be, let students fill that out. Repeat with the remaining letters and categories. 4. You Do (Rest of class) Allow students to continue working on their fitness plans. After they are finished, they will look for the list with their groups. Each group will gather and talk about different ideas that they want to do for a workout video. Monitor the students and observe. Provide additional instruction and clarification regarding the project. 5.
