What is litter?

Litter consists of waste products that have been disposed improperly, without consent, in an inappropriate location. Litter can also be used as a verb. The single most common litter item in Australia is the cigarette butt. Cigarette butts make up half of the litter in NSW. Other common litter includes small pieces of paper. Other common are bottle caps, plastic straws

The other common is bottles of plastic. The other one is fast food.

Why do people litter?


# They cant be bothered or are too lazy to find a bin # They have no sense of pride in their community # There is a lack of education / poor parenting of young people # If an area is already dirty, why bother to look for a bin? # People dont appreciate the consequences of littering (see Effects of litter)

Who is more likely to litter?


Lazy people. People who dont care about the environment. Drivers are most likely to litter. Kid are also most likely to litter because theyre too small to understand.
