General Information The DCDCB-4828 is a 48VDC to 28VDC converter module designed for telephone company and marine applications. The DCDCB-4828 consists of the converter module and special cabling for substitution of the secondary DC power source. The converter is installed between the FACP's main circuit board and a 48VDC UL listed for Fire Protection use power source. The DCDCB-4828 converter module can be used on the following control systems: MRP-4424/-4424E MS-4424/-442E RP-1001/-1001E RP-1002/-1002E SFP-400/-400E Document number 15180 Document number 15153 Document number 15150 Document number 15151 Document number 15152

Converter Installation Remove the main circuit board from the cabinet before beginning the DCDCB-4828 installation to avoid damage to the board. Place the positioning template into the upper right corner of the cabinet. The template places the converter's location within the cabinet. Drill four (4) holes through the cabinet as defined by the template. Remove the template. Install the DCDCB-4828 converter. Replace the main circuit board.

For use with the Secondary Power Source Note: There is no AC connection to the board with this application. The DCDCB-4828 converter can substitute the 4X Series FACP secondary DC power by setting the shunt jumper configuration to position 1. This results in 25.2 VDC at the battery (J9) input on the 4X Series FACP. The power input to the converter module is 48VDC. Special cabling is necessary for connecting the DCDCB-4828 converter module to the J9 battery position. Refer to Figure 2 for an illustration of secondary connections and the correct shunt/jumper setting. Using the DCDCB-4828 converter as the secondary DC power source requires the cutting of jumper 'AC FLT' to deactivate the trouble condition signal. The absence of an AC power source to the panel causes a trouble condition on the 4X Series FACP. Cutting the jumper bypasses the trouble condition signal. Refer to Figure 3 for the location of the 'AC FLT' jumper wire on the 4X Series FACP main board.
