Summer STEM Program 2013 Grades: 9 & 10


STEM Focus:

Civil Engineering Sustainable Energy Solar Energy Science & Technology Mechanical Engineering Green Energy

Camp Dates: June 10 June 27, 2013 July 08 July 25, 2013 Time: 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. (Full Day Session) Orientaon Day is Thursday June 6, 2013 in the North Ballroom from 6pm8 pm. The Student must turn in his/her applicaon along with the original report card by May 1, 2013.

Note: All Students must bring their own lunch.


What is S.T.E.M? The acronym STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. STEM Education attempts to transform the typical teacher-Centered classroom by encouraging a curriculum that is driven by problem-solving, discovery, exploratory learning, and requiring students to actively engage a situation in order to find its solution. All students benefit form the STEM program because it teaches independent innovation and allows students to explore greater depths of all of the subjects by utilizing the skills learned. These skills are going to be required in order for todays student to be tomorrows global leaders. All jobs are requiring workers to have a greater ability to think critically, work as a member of a team and independently, and close the performance gap between our American students and those being produced in other countries.
