INTRODUCTION :
Organization : A social unit of people that is structured and managed to meet a need or to pursue collective goals. Culture : Culture is comprised of the assumptions, values, norms and tangible signs (artifacts) of organization members and their behaviours. Organizational culture : is the sum total of an organization's past and current assumptions, experiences, philosophy, and values that hold it together, and is expressed in its self-image, inner workings, interactions with the outside world, and future expectations.
"The set of the set of beliefs, values, and norms, together with symbols like dramatized events and personalities, that represents the unique character of an organization, and provides the context for action in it and by it." Gareth Morgan (1998)in Images of organization.
Theories: 1) Culture Theory: Understanding organizations through a cultural lens with a focus on values, attitudes and beliefs of members 2) Critical Theory: Revealing how social and technological structures within organizations serve to oppress workers. According to Denison (1984) effective organizational culture of an organization enhances the commitment that improves the overall performance of an employee.
