Dear Mrs. Showm, My name is Amanda Favia, I am very excited to work with you and your class for the next few months. I am currently a junior at Rider University working on my major in Elementary Education and Psychology with a minor in Special Education. I have observed in New Jersey Regional Day School and Stony Brook Elementary School. New Jersey Regional Day School is a school for emotionally disturbed students, and I was in a third and fourth grade classroom. In Stony Brook Elementary School I was in a second grade classroom. Both of these experiences were great and only made me more excited to be in the field. I took a course at Rider where I taught children in an after school program in Trenton where I worked with a partner to teach a group of children how to run a small business. This was one of my favorite experiences because I got to teach kids how to do something and act as a teacher figure. I have also coached cheerleading, for girls in 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. I enjoy teaching children because I feel accomplished when they walk away knowing something new. I am very excited to meet you and your students and cant wait to help you in your classroom as much as I can.
