TOXICITY CARD-Chromic Acid

Toxicity
TLV: 0.1 mg/m3 Symptoms Strong irritation of skin and Mucous membranes. Dermatitis, Chrome ulcer, Chrome hole (ulcers in hands and fingers), Conjunctivitis, loss of eyesight, Bronchoasthma.

Emergency Treatment and Measures


Good ventilation. Apply petroleum or paraffin oils to nose before exposure. Chest XHygienic Precautions Ray tests every six months and Papanikolav test of sputum (detection of cancers) every 3 months. Irrigate eyes with running water for 15 minutes and call medical treatment of opthalmologist. Wash contaminated areas of body with abundant water and call for medical treatment of doctor. Treat skin burns orally dosing anti histamine agent, followed by the local treatment with cortisone. Treat skin ulcers with 10% edathamil calcium disodium in lanolin ointment and renew the ointment after 24 hours. Use water for fire fighting. Decomposition may form hot, viscous foam and may cause steam explosion.
