Activity: An experiment to find the relationship between current and potential difference.

(Ohms Law)

Inferens Hypothesis

Number of cell influence the ammeter reading. The higher the current flowing through a conductor, the higher the potential difference. To study the relationship between current and potential difference for an ohmic conductor. (a) Manipulated : current. Imass of trolley, m (b) Responding : potential difference, v (c) Fixed : length of constatan wire, temperature

Aim

Variable

Apparatus & material Arranggement of apparatus

Rheostat, constantan wire, switch, connecting wire, batteries, ammeter, voltmeter

Procedure

1. The apparatus is setup as shown in figure above. 2. The switch was closed and the rheostat was adjusted until the ammeter reads the current, I = 0.2 A. 3. The value of the potential difference, V, from the voltmeter was recorded. 4. The experiment was repeated for I = 0.3 A, 0.4 A, 0.5 A and 0.6A .

Observation Current, I (A) 0.2 0.3 0.4 0.5 0.6 Potential Diference, V (V)

Conclusion

The higher the current flowing through a conductor, the higher the potential difference.
