Enzyme as an emerging target for drug action

Romi Kumari, B Pharm IV Sem, Mukesh K. Patel M Pharm Sagar Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Sagar M P mukeshkpsgr@gmail.com Abstract- Almost all biological reactions are carried out under catalytic influence of enzymes; hence, enzymes are a very important target of drug action. Drugs can either increase (stimulate) or decrease (inhibit) the rate of enzymatically mediated reactions and modified the body functions for therapeutic potential imparted in diseases treatment. Inhibition of enzymes is a common mode of drug action and categories in nonspecific inhibition and specific inhibition on the basis of site of drug action on enzymes. In contrast to receptors many drugs are targeted on enzymes and show their important pharmacological response. This abstract mainly highlighted the action of drugs on various enzymes represent clinical importance. Keyword- Enzyme; Receptor; Drug; Pharmacological action; Diseases
