West Cohort #3 (St. Roch, St. Francis Borgia, and St.

Felix) Parish Merger Implementation Committee (IC) Scripted Message (Face to Face Communication for each parish)

The Diocese and Bishop Cistone have already started the implementation merger process here at St. Roch, St. Francis, and St. Felix. A new parish implementation committee has been commissioned and has already started its goal and mission of a new merged parish community. Members of this committee are made up from each individual parish. We need a new name for our newly merged parish. As of July 2013, St. Felix will no longer have any weekend Masses. All merged parishes are not to exceed more than three weekend Masses. St. Roch will have two Masses while St. Francis will have one weekend Mass. The Mass schedules will be determined after priest assignments have been finalized. Current thinking is that the main parish church is the only one to perform the sacraments of Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, Penance/Reconciliation, and Marriage. In order to field questions that we do not know the answers to we decided to refer any questions to Fr. Robert Par at St. Roch. Fr. John concurred. Bishop Cistone has directed us to follow the listed items: Enhance the vibrancy (vigor) of parish life in the diocese. Strengthen the presence and ministries of the church in rural areas of the diocese Foster a renewed appreciation for and participation in the Sunday Eucharist. Promote new evangelization efforts throughout the Diocese. Realign and/or merge parishes within the Diocese, considering the number of priests available to serve and financial resources and changing populations within the Diocese. Ensure that all parishioners have opportunities for quality lifelong Christian education and formation. Strengthen service to those that are marginalized (currently excluded or ignored). Promote vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Promote greater involvement in lay ministry programs. Support new initiatives for youth and young adults. Build a greater sense of unity among Catholics from all cultures within the local church.

Increase working together in all entities of the local, national, and universal Church. Support efforts to promote peace and justice in the church and in the world.

Remember to think of a new parish name and submit it back into the collection basket by April 7 , 2013. The name and reason why should be stated on the form.

In conclusion, the IC has decided communication and updates will be presented in bulletins.
