The Spanish Peoples Party is in favor of the non usage of familiar address forms in class.

The conservative spokesman for the ministry of Education in the Spanish Deputy Congress, Juan Antonio Gmez Trinidad, pointed out that the idea proposed by representative Enrique Mgica to avoid the usage of familiar address forms in class could be a positive measure for expressing respect, although he rejected its implementation by the Administration on the grounds that it should be a decision taken by the Educative Community of primary, secondary, and high schools. Gmez Trinidad displayed his agreement with the base of the proposal, highlighting the necessity of recovering teachers authority and respect in class. This respect has been lost, as the spokesman says, due to a misguided concept of liberty, which has become in most cases a kind of vulgarity. The usage of non-familiar address forms among teachers and students has declined, but it would not be a wrong measure if it was understood as an expression of respect, said the deputy, who also added that it is possible to be disrespectful using non-familiar address forms, but its a way of establishing everyones position to become conscious of the corresponding role. In any case, the deputy remarked that he does not approve imposing this measure in every school because they are responsible for deciding these kinds of standards. He also pointed out that the number of schools that are recovering the utilization of uniforms is increasing, which, according to him, eradicates the students preference for specific brands, establishes equality among students, and gives them a positive sense of belonging to a school. Common sense makes us recover things that were joyfully rejected in a given moment, Gmez Trinidad concluded.
