English 11 Warning Letter

Your student is currently in danger of not passing the 3rd marking period of English 11. This may be due to missing assignments or poor quality of work. English 11 is a class that must be passed in order to graduate from Greenville High School. Failure to complete assignments or improve the quality of work may ultimately lead to re-taking this course or worse yet, not graduating next year. Attached, you will find a progress report with your students current grade and missing assignments. Please take a look at this with your student. Teachers stay after school on Tuesdays through Thursdays until after 3:05 p.m. On Mondays, teachers stay until 3:30 p.m. Please note that it is possible that staff or department meetings will be held after school on Mondays. I am also available during Channel One time, before school, and possibly during the students lunch. I would like to help your student be successful, and these times are available to work with students on assignments, study strategies, or computer lab work. Students can get at least half-credit on most assignments if they are just turned in. Please feel free to contact me for further information concerning grades or assignments. Mrs. Nelson has a website with information about assignments, grading, and due dates through the GPS staff directory or http://www.greenville.k12.mi.us/webpages/nelsonb/ link. Information about grades can also found for your student in the Parent Portal grading link. Contact the main office (616-754-3681) if you do not know how to access your students grades online. Your students success is important to me. Thank you, in advance, for your support. Sincerely,

Jennifer L. VanderSlik
