Key Result Area

Competence (or competency) is the ability of an individual to perform a job properly. A competency is a set of defined behaviors that provide a structured guide enabling the identification, evaluation and development of the behaviors in individual employees.

Competence" as a combination of knowledge, skills and behavior used to improve performance; or as the state or quality of being adequately or well qualified, having the ability to perform a specific role. For instance, management competency might include systems thinking and emotional intelligence, and skills in influence and negotiation

Skills
A skill is the learned capacity to carry out predetermined results often with the minimum outlay of time, energy, or both.

Academic skills Reading Logic Critical thinking Math Interpersonal communication Speech: listening, talking Nonverbal communication Literacy: writing, reading Motor skills Walking, craft, sport Creativity, Innovation Music, arts, and crafts Skilled labor Innovation skill

Key Result Areas or KRAs refer to general areas of outcomes or outputs for which a role is responsible. A typical role targets three to five KRA

Example
Consider a hockey team. No player is responsible for "wins;" this is an outcome for the entire team. Each player has specific KRAs to maintain. The goaltender has one primary KRA, shots stopped
