REP. MORRIS TO URGE PASSAGE OF BILL DE-CRIMINALIZING OUT-OF-TOWN ENROLLMENTS


Sen. Coleman, Stratford Grandmother At Press Conference
Rep. Bruce Morris (D-Norwalk), sponsor of a bill (HB 6695) de-criminalizing the felony act of enrolling a child in a school outside of the district where the student lives, Sen. Eric Coleman (D-Hartford), advocates and a Stratford grandmother arrested recently will speak at a press conference urging passage of the legislation at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Legislative Office Building. In addition to Marie Menard of Stratford, who cared for her two grandchildren, the legislators will join Gwendolyn Samuel, founder of Connecticut Parents Union, an organization dedicated to reforming school residency laws, at the press conference.
