Stages of A Bill
Will be passed through the House of Commons and also the House of Lords to make it an act of parliament
Consultation stage
This is where the Clerk reads out to the chamber and will then go on to the second reading
First Reading
At this stage it is at the most important point and is then discussed and then will be voted on. Then it will be moved on to the committee stage
Second Reading
When the bill has gone through the second reading in the House of Commons it goes through into the committee stage, where a small number of MPs take a look at the bill
Committee Stage
Report Stage
This stage follows after the bill in the houses moved onto the third, and this is the final opportunity to vote on the bill.
The whole house either the House of Commons or the House of Lords will review the bill and it will be amended
Third Reading
This stage is when the monarch agrees to make the bill part of the parliament.
Royal Assent
This stage is the final stage of the bill making process and then it become law
Act of Parliament
