Introduction 1.1 Prerequisites Students will be expected to have taken a Year 11 course in Slovenian or be able to demonstrate mastery of the grammatical structures und voca- bulary contained in Slovenian Language Manual — 1. They are also expected to have a general knowledge of Slovene history 10 the beginning of the 19th century, and should be familiar with some of the major writers and poets in Slovene literature and a few of their works. Each teacher of the subject is expected to attend an assessment meeting conducted by the Slovenian committee after final written and oral examinations have been held, This meeting will review assessment procedures and contribute to the course review process, but will not reassess the performance of individual students. 1.2 Length of course ‘The length of the course is approximately 30 weeks of 4 hours per week, 1.3 Course review A review committee consisting of the Chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee, at least two other members, and all the teachers of the subject, will be formed, to consider * the progress of the students: + the ability of students to handle each part of the course + the response of students to the course as a whole, and its parts + student performance + teacher opinion of the course + feedback from people outside the course development group. Special attention will be given to the opinions and attitudes expressed by the students who have taken the course. The review committee will meet every six months and a report will be prepared and presented to the following meeting of the Ad Hoc Committee. 1.4 Background to course Slovenian is a modern language th a fully developed literature.
