Universal Design............................................................................................................... Universal Design is a collection of codes used to allow accessibility and use by all people, including those with disabilities. Doors must exceed 36 in width. A 5 turning radius must be available in all places. Elevators and bathroom stalls must be able to fit a wheelchair. All entrances and exits must be available via) ramps. These ramps must have a 1/12 slope and landings every 10.

International Building Codes and Regulations.............................................................. Building codes and regulations define the requirements a building must meet in order to be permissible.
We will be using City of Noblesville, Indiana Code of Ordinances 2009 (Sixth Printing) The Global Observatory is classified as building type B. (IBC 2009 Section 503.1) The occupant load of the Global Building is 310. (IBC 2009 Section 1004.1)

The egress width is 62 for all means of egress and 25 for stairways from the 2nd floor. (IBC 2009 Section 1005) The number of exits required include 2 for the first floor and 2 on the second floor. (IBC 2009 Section 1021)

All doors must have a fire resistance rating of one hour or more.

Exit doors may not exceed 20 ft in distance from stairways. All rooms must have clearly marked signs indicating their max occupancy.

Our observatory is located in the PB District. (Section 159.105 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS.)

The maximum area is 20,000 sq ft and the maximum height is 3 stories, complying with our design. (Section 159.107 COMMERCIAL DISTRICTS)

The purpose of this district is to regulate the use and development of land within the jurisdiction of the City of Noblesville. It is designed to protect and promote the public health, safety, and general welfare. (Section 159.004 PURPOSES)

This buildings use, a laboratory, is permitted on this type of lot. (Section 159.105 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS)
