Lets Build a Robot!

Robotics, Inc. is looking to build a new kind of robot. Each group in the class is going to come up with a design for a robot and submit it to the company to see which one the company likes best and will choose to build. The company has some requirements: The robot must have at least 6 pieces: head, body, 2 arms, and 2 legs. The total amount of material used should be less than 1000 square inches. (This does not include the material used to connect the pieces together!) The design should be creative. (Feel free to add a face, extra body parts, etc.) Directions: You will be given the entire class period to design and build your robot. You will have access to many options for materials including boxes, cans, plates, cups, paper, and more! As you decide what items you will use for your robot, make sure you determine how much material you are using dont go over 1000 square inches! Each person needs to record the calculations and turn them in to the company with your robot. Also, each person in the group will need to write a short paragraph (5-10 sentences) explaining how your group used surface area to limit the amount of material used in your design.
