APPROVED MOTORCYCLE SPEEDWAY TRAINING PROCESS

The need for a rigorous training framework that fits within the Speedway NZ structure has been obvious for some time. This is especially the case for Motorcycle Speedway, and as a result the Directors have approved a training process for the 2009/10 season. They are designed as a stand-alone set of guidelines, that are distinct from practice or competition. Initially for Motorcycle Speedway use only, the training criteria are as follows:1) A Speedway NZ training permit is required, at a cost of $20.00. This is to be issued by the SNZ Track Steward. 2) There must be a minimum of a St John Level 2 Certified first aid person in attendance. To attain this qualification requires a workplace First Aid 2 Day course, costing around $229. 3) The required on-site minimum first aid equipment is a St Johns Sports Kit (Part #402280) plus a tracheotomy tube. The cost of this is around $239. 4) The minimum fire fighting equipment to be in place is one foam extinguisher, one powder extinguisher, and 1 x 20 Litre water vessel. 5) Landline or Cellphone communication for Emergencies. 6) Speedway NZ Approved Trainer(s) are to be in attendance. This negates the requirement for an SNZ Steward to be present. Tracks wishing to submit nominations for approved trainers should ensure the nominee completes the Application for Warrant Card form, and return to the SNZ Office. 7) If there is to be more than one bike on the track at any one time, a flag marshal must be present. 8) If the participant does not hold a competition licence, they will need to obtain a one-day or season training licence (fees below). No unlicensed participants are permitted on any SNZ track, at any time. 9) The Fee Structure for Motorcycle training is as follows:Track Training Fee/Permit $20.00 First day for a new rider FREE*

* MUST have basic competitor induction and mentor tuition as per Rule G8-1-3.

Daily Training Fee - Senior $10.00 Daily Training Fee - Junior $10.00 Season Training Only Fee - Senior $50.00 Season Training Only Fee - Junior $30.00 Competitors may upgrade to a full competition license by paying the difference.
