Answer the following questions:


(1) a) What is the importance of structural geology? b) Describe the upper Lithosphere layer. c) What are the causes of the continental motion? d) What are the most large petroleum pools and how they accumulate such huge quantity of petroleum (use figures)? (2) (3) (4) How relative and absolute times can be used to date geological events? Define the three types of rocks and explain their importance for petroleum generation and accumulation. Ground water involved in some processes that effect porosity, permeability and reservoir conditions, explain ground water effect on these processes and conditions. Deposition of sediments is followed by their transformation into rocks, which is called post-deposition processes, explain in details these processes. Explain in details the factors that affect the behavior of rocks. a) What are the terminology of Folds and Faults? b) How can the presence of folds be indirectly recognized? a) Write all you know about Oil migration and Structural traps. (support your answer with drawings). b) Attached is a structural contour map divided by a grid system according to the township and section system for possible oil bearing zone. The upper part of the map is not complete. Some wells with their datum depth are shown on this part. The locations of another five wells with the datum depth are given below. It is required to: 1. Locate the wells on the map and complete the structural contour map. (Use an interval of 150 ft) 2. Draw the cross-section A A of the lower part. 3.
