    WHO IS BONO?
    Birth name: Paul David Hewson;

    Also known as: Bono;


    Born: 10 May 1960 (age 52) in Dublin, Ireland; Occupations: Musician, singer-songwriter, activist, philanthropist; Bono is married to Alison Hewson.

    MUSICAL CAREER
    On 25 September 1976, Bono, David Evans, his brother Dik and Adam Clayton responded to an advertisement on a bulletin board posted by fellow student Larry Mullen to form a rock band.

    The band went by the name "Feedback" for a few months, before changing to "The Hype" and after, Dik Evans left the group to join another local band, the four remaining members changed the name "The Hype" to "U2".
    Bono sang, played guitar, and wrote the band's songs.

    ACTIVIST
    Bono is involved in a variety of causes outside of U2: Amnesty International, LIVE 8, ONE Campaign, DATA, (RED) and EDUN. Since the millennium, he met several actors, artists and activists of the cause of ending Third World debt.

    ACTIVIST
    Bono has become one of the world's best-known philanthropic performers;
    He received several awards for his philanthropy, including the TED prize (nonprofit private foundation) where we took every hospital, health clinic and school in Ethiopia the ability to connect to the Internet.
