Water Runoff

The formula for runoff is Q=(A)(i)(C)(Cf). A is the area in acres, i is storm intensity, C is the runoff coefficient, and Cf is the adjusted runoff coefficient. The following equations use the same formula, in the same order.

Before the land was developed, it was completely covered in farmland. Giving the runoff coefficient of .175. ( ( ( ( )( )( )( ) )( )( ) )( ) )

After development, the ingress and egress of the property was done in concrete. ( ( ( ( ) )( )( )( )( )( ) )( ) )

After development, half of the roof of our building was done in asphalt. ( ( ( ( )( ) )( )( ) )( )( )( ) )

The other half became a green roof. ( ( ( ( )( )( )( ) ) )( )( )

The parking lot was done with concrete. ( ( ( ( ( )( ) )( )( ) )( ) )( )

The sidewalks were done in concrete. ( ( ( )( )( )( ) )( )( )( ) )

The garden area was finished with many different plants and trees, as well as grass. ( ( ( ( ) )( )( )( )( )( ) )( ) )

Calculating Retention Pond Surface Area

We were required to have a retention pond to deal with runoff, and these are calculations to figure out how larger the surface area had to be.
