It is important to shake hands. But remember, pointing fingers is considered inappropriate. When greeting someone with Russia, it is important to shake hands and say Dobry dien (Good Day) Make sure to not celebrate a Russian childs birthday before the actual day, it is considered to be bad luck!! The general attitude in Russia is pessimistic, so make sure your classroom is a positive area. Since the man is usually the head of the household, make sure you let the girls in your class feel appreciated and valued.

Healthcare:
Russia has free medical
care, but the quality is low. Basic Facts: Russia is the largest country in the world. The total population is approximately 143 million. The Ural Mountains divide the country between Asia and Europe. The northern region of Russia, which is called Siberia and have a 9 month winter. Religion: The Russian Orthodox Church represents about 1520% of the population During the Soviet era, religion was outlawed, which gives cause to the record high non-religious affiliation rate. Muslims account for about 10% of the population and is rising.

Due to the high smoker


population, cancer runs rampant.

Alcoholism is also a huge


problem.

The government is trying to


crackdown on smoking, aiming to drive healthcare prices down.

Instead of using doctors,


many Russians try to solve their medical woes themselves.

Urgent care clinics are


available, but they are very expensive.
